Germination is the process by which new plants start to grow from seeds. Germination, also known as “popping”, is the first step to start growing cannabis. In this guide, we teach you how to germinate cannabis seeds in the simplest way.
How to find healthy marijuana seeds
Since cannabis is grown from cannabis seeds, many people want to know how to identify healthy seeds. To be honest, it is difficult to tell if a plant is healthy just by looking at its seeds. However, there are some telltale signs. In general, light green, white or very black cannabis seeds can be difficult to germinate. However, this does not always reflect the results of the factory and is always worth a try. If you cannot use all the seeds, store them in a cool, dry place until you can. The fridge is a good place.
How to GerminateCannabis seeds
Cannabis seeds need three things to germinate: water, heat and air. So there are many ways to get seeds to germinate. The most common and simplest method is to use paper towels soaked in water.
Things you will need:
-
Two clean plates
-
Paper towels
-
Seeds
Step 1: Soaked paper towels
Take four paper towels and soak them in distilled water. The sheets should be soaked, but do not allow excess water to run off.
Step 2: Put the cannabis seeds
Take two paper towels and place them on the plate. Then place the cannabis seeds at least one centimetre apart and cover them with the remaining two soaked paper towels.
Step 3: Make a dark environment
To create a dark, protected space, take another plate and turn it over to cover the seeds (such as the dome).
Step 4: Temperature and humidity
Make sure that the area where you live is between 70-90°F. If the paper towel is too dry, sprinkle some water on it.
Once you have completed these steps, it is time to wait. You can check the paper towels to make sure they are still saturated, and if they seem to be losing moisture, you can add more water to keep the seeds happy.
Some seeds germinate very quickly, while others may take several days. You will know that the seed has germinated when it splits open and a new sprout appears.
Transplanting germinated seeds
Once your seeds have germinated, you should plant them. The shoots will need to be moved during the transplanting process, please be careful as the main root is very fragile. If you touch or destroy it, it may survive, but it will definitely hinder the growth of the plant.
When sowing, put the Bai Gen down. It should be placed about half an inch to an inch into the growing medium (knuckle depth). The top of the seed should be just below the surface. Gently cover and wait about a week (up to 10 days) for the seedlings to break through the soil. It may appear on the same day - but if it is not browsed after 10 days it may not survive.
If your seeds accidentally hang upside down, don't worry. Nature has a way of working itself out. As long as there is enough room for the roots to grow, they will. Give it some time and let it happen!
