LED grow lights have become more and more common in commercial cannabis cultivation. Meanwhile, LED grow lights manufacturer has sprung out in large number as we have never seen before. Among those LED grow light manufacturers, Gavita and Fluence seem to be the two leading companies among all the well-known grow lights manufacturers. Other LED grow lights companies are also rapidly catching up and offering similar products at more competitive prices. But for commercial growers, how to choose the best LED grow lights seems to get a little bit more complicated? Should I buy the commercial LED grow lights from well-known suppliers like Gavita and Fluence, or should I try a product offering the same performance but at much lower prices from an unknown LED grow lights manufacturer?
Here let’s have a breakdown of the three commercial LED grow lights, so you can have a more clear idea of every penny you spent on the grow lights.

2. Comparison of KEY components on LED fixture
The two major components of LED grow light fixtures that determine the light output performance, reliability, and lifetime are the LED chips and LED drivers.
LED Chips
Let’s first have a look of the LED chips used on these three LED grow lights.
White LED Chips | |||||
Brand | Model | Number | Working Power Per LED Chip | Power
Gavita Pro 1700e | SAMSUNG | 301B | 3264 | 0.175W | 573W |
Fluence Spydr 2i | SAMSUNG | 301B | 2124 | 0.258W | 547W |
GLMX720 PRO | OSRAM | SMD2835 | 1848 | 0.208W | 384W |
Single Color LED Chips(RED 660nm)
Brand | Model | Number | Working Power Per LED Chip | Power
Gavita Pro 1700e | OSRAM | SMD3030 | 72 | 1W | 72W |
Fluence Spydr 2i | OSRAM | SMD3030 | 84 | 1W | 84W |
GLMX720 PRO | OSRAM | SMD3030 | 210 | 1W | 210W |
Single Color LED Chips (BLUE)
Brand | Model | Number | Working Power Per LED Chip | Power
Gavita Pro 1700e | / | / | / | / | 0 |
Fluence Spydr 2i | / | / | / | / | 0 |
GLMX720 PRO | OSRAM | SMD3030 | 84 | 1W | 84W |
Single Color LED Chips (INFRARED)
Brand | Model | Number | Working Power Per LED Chip | Power
Gavita Pro 1700e | / | / | / | / | 0 |
Fluence Spydr 2i | / | / | / | / | 0 |
GLMX720 PRO | OSRAM | SMD3030 | 42 | 1W | 42W |
From the data above, we can find that Gavita uses the most LED diodes in quantity, and GLMX720 PRO uses the least LED diodes in quantity. But GLMX720 PRO uses much more high power single-color LED diodes than both Gavita and Fluence, and the average working power per LEDs diodes of GLMX720 PRO is higher than Gavita, but lower than Fluence(Please note that single color LEDs of RED & BLUE & INFRARED working at 1W delivers 4 times higher PPF output than white LEDs working at 0.2W.). As we all know that the lower power the LED chips work on, the higher the efficacy will be, and the longer the life time will be.
Driver on LED fixture
LED driver on the LED grow light fixture plays the role of converting AC input into DC output which LED diodes can use to work. Most LED lights defects due to driver failure, so the driver used on the LED grow light also directly determines how long and stable the fixture can run free from trouble. We can see in the below chart, all three grow lights use the large brand LED drivers on the market with more than 5 years quality guarantee.
LED Driver | |||
Brand | Model | Number per Fixture
Gavita Pro 1700e | Philips | 220W | 3 pcs |
Fluence Spydr 2i | PowerLand | 650W | 1 pcs |

Because each fixture uses different LED diodes, even for the white section, each fixture is equipped with white LEDs of different combinations of color temperatures. But we can see that the overall spectrum is based on the same principle: broad full spectrum across the whole PAR area from 400m to 700nm with enhance power at the blue and red area.
But outside the PAR area, GLMX720 PRO clearly delivers a stronger output of infrared radiation. Infrared is key to boost plant growth according to the Emerson Effects, as well as proven benefits for flowering plants to yield more buds.
4. Heat Sink
Heat sink is a key part in whether the LED fixture can radiate the heat effectively and keep the fixture running at a relatively cooler status, therefore having a longer life time.
We have not had the exact temperature of the Gavita and Fluence LED, but the average surface temperature of GLMX720 PRO can be well-controlled within 55℃ at the environmental temperature of 25℃.
The heat sink of GLMX720 PRO is made of industrial AL6063 aluminum with a surface size up to 4593144mm²( 7119in²).

5. LED diodes protection
LED diodes are easy to be damaged by bumping into some solid object or just touching carelessly by hand. The three LED grow lights are protected in different ways. The LED didoes on Fluence and Gavita LED grow lights are protected by coating with a layer of waterproof glue. While GLMX720 PRO is designed with an acrylic board that completely covers the whole area of the lighting panel which delivers much better protection for the LED diodes inside.

6. Price
For commercial LED grow lights which are used as an important machine for producing high-quality crops in a plant factory, the quality of the LED grow lights always comes first, once quality is confirmed, lower price is the key for growers to get more profit or the initial investment back faster.
When it comes to prices, GLMX720 PRO outperforms both the Gavita Pro 1700e and Fluence Spydr 2i.
Gavita Pro 1700e at 1199USD.
Fluence Spydr 2i at 1500USD.
GLMX720 PRO comes at only 959USD, and for wholesale commercial growers, there is a discount up to 20% according to the quantity of the order. Please check directly with us for the best discounted price for you.
